Teach your students a lesson they won’t forget

Fundraising

It’s more than just flag-day, we promise. Let your students decide how best to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Singapore — we’ve seen from experience that they can come up with the most creative (and effective) solutions. For example, our partnership with Tanjong Katong Girls’ School was student-initiated. Deeply touched by our mission, six girls from the school led a bake sale and churned out treats for family and friends. This raised more than $300 for our cause.

Our Fundraising Story

baking with love

A student-initiated fundraiser from Tanjong Katong Girls’ School, Wong Ying Xuan and five other teammates raised more than $300 from 200 orders of baked goods like rainbow cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies. The project was held over a duration of 5 days where the students baked nearly every day to ensure that the products were still fresh for consumption.

The group felt that the fundraiser was a great learning experience as they were able to contribute towards a greater cause, attain their target of raising $200, as well as promote graciousness among their fellow peers.

Volunteer

We also value schools that give back time. We’ve found that these simple acts forge deep bonds between students and Make-A-Wish Singapore. Theodora Ho first volunteered for us when she was in Secondary One, and continues to volunteer, nearly 8 years later. She is also one of our most committed fundraisers. “Instead of a birthday present, I encouraged my friends to make a donation to Make-A-Wish Singapore,” says the 21-year-old. Her efforts raised more than $400

Our Volunteer Story

Theodora's Rainbow party

My first experience with Make- A-Wish Foundation began when I partnered the organisation for a school project in Secondary One. The Foundation always has a place in my heart because I really love the idea of making someone else’s dream come true. Don’t we want our dreams to come true too? Turning 21 this year, I decided to support Make-A-Wish for the second time. Instead of a birthday present, I encouraged my friends to make a donation to Make-A-Wish to grant wishes!

They were extremely supportive, raising $422 amongst 40 of them – an amount beyond my expectations! Amazingly, my birthday party was Rainbow themed, a reminder that there is always hope after a storm. Likewise, I am so grateful for the generosity of my friends in bringing hope to others.
