“I wish to take an airplane”
Ridhwan is a 10-year-old boy with Pfieffer Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder characterized by the premature fusion of certain bones of the skull, which prevents further growth of the skull and affects the shape of the head and face. Like most children his age, Ridhwan enjoys making things, playing with his sister, reading, helping his mother with housework and experiencing new things.
Ridhwan’s wish was to fly on an airplane because he enjoyed his outings to the airport with his mom to watch airplanes, but never had the chance to take one.
Ridhwan kept running around with his arms outstretched like a airplane during the Wish Granters’ visit. Due to his medical condition, the doctor recommended only a short flight for Ridhwan. So, a very special flight around Singapore was planned for him before bringing him on a holiday of a lifetime!
Ridhwan’s Wish day started with a trip to Seletar Aerospace Park where he and his family were welcomed by the Republic of Singapore Flying Club and then shuttled into a private airplane. Ridhwan was shown all the fancy controls before the take-off for an exciting 20 minutes flight around Singapore where he could spot many of the iconic buildings across the island! He was such a brave boy who took the flight and all the pilot’s instructions very seriously.
Upon landing, they checked into Festive Hotel on Sentosa to enjoy their 3 day, 2 night vacation. Ridhwan and his family explored various attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore, SEA Aquarium and the brand-new KidZania where Ridhwan could become a pilot again! They even had a personalized “Wings of Time” laser light show which beamed the special message, “Happy Wish Day, Ridhwan!” It was truly a vacation to remember and time for the entire family to just build unforgettable memories together.
Ridhwan was referred to Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore by the KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
