Joseph Schooling, Olympic Champion

Make-A-Wish is partner and beneficiary of The Schooling Effect, a movement inspired by Joseph Schooling’s momentous feat at the recent Rio Olympics. Joseph made history when he beat Michael Phelps to win the gold medal in the 100m butterfly.

He believes that children are the future of the country, and hopes to be able to encourage and inspire them to dare to dream. Joseph returned to town in November 2016 and headlined a series of events in support of the foundation.

He also launched the Watsons Dream Tree initiative together with four Wish Kids at Ngee Ann City Watsons. Bryan, Raphael, Dennis and Anastasia were ecstatic to meet him, as his victory and accomplishments have greatly inspired them to pursue their hopes and dreams.

Another group of Wish Children, Joshua Ong, Joshua Koh and Kye Feng were also invited the chance of meeting him at Kallang Wave Mall. Joseph played chauffer and took the boys on a spin in a Porsche Cayenne.

Martin Berry, Entrepreneur and Race Car Driver

Despite joining Make-A-Wish Singapore as an Ambassador just two months ago, Martin Berry has already brought Wish kids like Joshua Koh on a joyride along Orchard Road in a blue Ferrari. The entrepreneur — who is involved in launching and acquiring companies — is no stranger to fast cars and will compete in the upcoming Asia-Pacific Ferrari Challenge Race Series.

His passion for cars is matched only by his enthusiasm to give back to the community. When Martin learnt of Wish Child Primus’ passion for F1 and racing cars, he planned a Ferrari themed-surprise for him. The F1 enthusiast was invited to ride in Martin’s red Ferrari and toured the Ferrari showroom for an up-close experience of the cars. He also received exclusive Ferrari premiums, such as a diecast car model and a back pack, as well as a chance to help design a helmet to be worn by Martin during his race.

Martin’s commitment to advance the Foundation's cause is evident in his frequent participation in its outreach initiatives. He believes that any contribution — big or small — makes a difference, and he looks forward to doing his part to bring hope, strength and joy to the children and families that Make-A-Wish serves.

The Yellow Fellows, People for Good

We are a running group of fellow friends from Singapore who love to RUN races. 2017 marks the fifth year where we decided to dedicate every race that we take on for the goodness of charity awareness. This is also an extremely exciting year for us as we will be committing our races and fund-raising efforts to MAKE-A-WISH Singapore.

After welcoming a new born by a couple in the team, we wanted to shift our efforts to fulfilling a child’s dream on top of fund raising efforts. MAKE-A-WISH was the natural choice as it would give us the opportunity to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. For that we are grateful to be MAKE-A-WISH ambassadors.

We are a team of friends who are very different professionally but united in our values and beliefs. We have individuals working as a shipbroker, to marketer, brand manager, model, TV/radio personality, business owner and even a national athlete.
